Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our courses, lessons, booking, and platform.
Getting Started
Yes. We are a fully licensed Beginner Driver Education (BDE) provider approved by the Ministry of Transportation Ontario. Our instructors are individually MTO-certified and background-checked.
Aurora, Markham, Newmarket, North York, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, and Vaughan. Enter your address in the booking tool to confirm coverage for your exact pickup location.
You can start the 30-hour online e-course without a G1. But you need a valid Ontario G1 licence before booking any in-car lesson. All BDE components must be completed within one year of enrollment.
A greenhorn is someone new to something. We named the school after the students we teach: beginners learning to drive for the first time.
We run everything through a web app. You book lessons, pick your instructor, message them, track your progress, and manage your schedule online. There's no calling an office or waiting for callbacks. Our tech-first approach also lets us keep prices lower than most schools in the GTA.
No. Your instructor picks you up in a dual-control vehicle equipped with a passenger-side brake. You just need your licence and comfortable shoes.
Every student gets a unique referral code. Share it with a friend, and when they enroll in a BDE or TurboTest Pro package and complete the e-course, you get a $75 digital gift card. Options include Walmart, PayPal, Uber Eats, and Tim Hortons. Track your referrals and payouts from your dashboard.
Packages & Pricing
Three options. Private Lessons at $60/hr (pay as you go). The BDE Package at $584 + $30 certification fee, which includes a 30-hour e-course and 10 hours of in-car instruction. And TurboTest Pro at $734 + $30 certification fee, which includes everything in BDE plus an instructor vehicle on test day and a mock exam.
A 30-hour online theory course (20 hours of content plus 10 hours of homework), 10 hours of in-car lessons with a certified instructor, and an MTO-recognized BDE certificate when you complete both components.
Everything in the BDE package, plus the use of an instructor's vehicle for your G2 road test and a mock examination beforehand. It's the all-inclusive option for students who want to be fully prepared on test day.
The $30 certification fee covers BDE program certification and registration, including the government-mandated Ministry of Transportation certificate issuance. This fee is mandatory and included at checkout.
The BDE certificate may allow insurance providers to rate you as a driver with up to 3 years of experience. Whether you receive a discount and how much depends entirely on your insurance provider and policy. Contact your insurer directly to ask how they recognize BDE completion.
If you need MTO certification (required to take the G2 test early at 8 months instead of 12), go with BDE or TurboTest Pro. If you want test-day covered too, TurboTest Pro includes the instructor's vehicle for your road test and a mock exam beforehand. If you already have your BDE certificate or just want extra practice, private lessons at $60/hr let you book as needed with no commitment.
Yes. You must complete the full 30-hour online theory course before you can start in-car training. This ensures you have the foundational knowledge before getting behind the wheel.
There's no hard deadline after enrollment, but all BDE components (e-course and in-car lessons) must be completed within one year to qualify for MTO certification. We recommend finishing sooner to keep the material fresh.
Once you complete the 30-hour e-course and all 10 in-car lesson hours, we generate your MTO-recognized BDE certificate with a unique verification code. The certificate is emailed to you as a PDF. If anyone needs to verify it, they can contact us with the certificate number.
Yes! Every BDE and TurboTest Pro graduate receives a Greenhorn Completion Package with a branded t-shirt, diploma, tote bag, pen, stickers, air freshener, candy, and a referral card. See everything included here.

Standard lessons are 1 hour. You can also book 2-hour sessions if you want more seat time per visit. BDE credits work at 1 credit per hour, so a 2-hour lesson uses 2 credits.

The Portal
Lesson booking with live instructor availability, in-app messaging, digital in-car evaluations, a progress hub with skill tracking and badges, lesson history, BDE certification tracker, credit management, and calendar sync.
Your BDE package includes 10 lesson credits (1 credit = 1 hour). Credits are applied automatically when you book. Your balance is displayed on your dashboard.
Yes. The Portal has a built-in messaging system. You can coordinate pickup details, ask questions, or discuss progress directly with your instructor. All conversation history is saved.
Go to the Support section in your dashboard and submit a ticket with details. You can attach files if needed. For urgent matters, call us at 289-205-9119.
After enrolling in a BDE or TurboTest Pro package, you'll receive login credentials for the e-course platform by email. The e-course is hosted on a separate platform from the Greenhorn Portal. If you didn't receive your credentials or can't log in, contact us at [email protected].
Tap "Forgot password" on the login screen and enter your email. You'll receive a reset link within a few minutes. If it doesn't arrive, check your spam folder. For the e-course platform, use its own password reset since it has separate login credentials.
Message your instructor through the Portal as soon as possible. They'll wait within reason, but the lesson still ends at the originally scheduled time. If you're going to miss it entirely, cancel through the app. Remember the 24-hour cancellation policy applies.
