BDE Course

What is the BDE course?

The Beginner Driver Education (BDE) course is an MTO-approved course that includes 20 hours of e-course content, 10 hours of homework, and 10 hours of in-car lessons.

Can I start the course without my G1?

Certainly! You’re welcome to start the theoretical part of the course, whether it’s in-person or online, even before getting your G1 license. However, you can only start the practical, in-car training after you’ve obtained your G1. It’s important to remember that to be eligible for the Ministry of Transportation certification, all components of the course must be completed within one year. Therefore, ensure you allow yourself ample time to acquire your G1 and complete the 10 hours of in-car training.

Can I join the course at any time?

Yes, you can join the course at any time that suits you. All our courses are designed to be flexible to accommodate our students’ schedules.

Do I have to finish my 30 hours class component before I start my in-car training?

Yes, you need to complete the full 30 hours of the theoretical part of the course before you can begin the practical, in-car training sessions. This ensures you have a solid theoretical foundation before you get behind the wheel!

Can I get a discount on my insurance with the certificate?

Most insurance companies offer discounts to drivers who have completed a BDE course. We recommend checking with your insurance provider for their specific policies.

General Business

Why are Greenhorn's prices more competitive compared to other driving schools? Do pricier schools offer more to their students?

At Greenhorn, we strive to provide top-tier driving education without breaking the bank. Our affordability doesn’t compromise our quality but rather reflects our efficient use of technology and virtual platforms. By employing modern tech solutions, we streamline our operations, minimize overhead costs, and pass those savings directly onto our students. This approach also enhances the convenience, flexibility, and interactivity of our courses, contributing to a unique, engaging learning experience that can rival or exceed that offered by more expensive traditional schools. Our ultimate goal is ensuring accessibility to quality driving education for all.

What is the meaning behind the name "Greenhorn"?

“Greenhorn,” according to the Oxford Dictionary, refers to a person who is new to or inexperienced in a field or situation. It encapsulates the concept of beginners who are eager to learn, embodying their sense of inexperience and unfamiliarity. When we named our driving school Greenhorn, we had this precise idea in mind. Our mission is to help guide these ‘greenhorns’ from their initial unfamiliarity with driving to a stage of confidence and mastery, ensuring their transformation into responsible, safe drivers. Our name stands as a symbol of our commitment to this journey of growth and learning in the field of driving.

What are Greenhorn's office hours and operating hours?

Our office hours are from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, during which you can reach out to us for administrative assistance or general queries. However, our operating hours for driving lessons may extend beyond these times based on the availability of our instructors. We understand that everyone’s schedule varies, hence we strive to offer flexibility in lesson timing.

Is Greenhorn Driving School MTO-certified?

Yes, Greenhorn Driving School is certified by the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO). We are fully licensed to provide Beginner Driver Education (BDE) courses, and our curriculum meets all the MTO’s standards. Our instructors are also MTO-certified, ensuring high-quality, comprehensive instruction to prepare our students not just to pass the driving test, but to become safe, confident, and responsible drivers.
